im late cause i was asleep but tell me whats up with adam and jonah in fnam

somehow forgot I got sent this ask. like I saw it this morning and then completely forgot about it. okay.

so! as I'm 90% sure I've said before, the timeline is... messy. adam's whole situation in CANON is already pretty mucked and things don't really add up, so like,, mel and I will have to iron it out because now there's a ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE added to the mix?? good grief

but, ah! the BPS have pretty much just been hiding out at their headquarters, taking jobs in exchange for supplies n whatnot, mostly staying out of the way of the blunt force of the apocalypse. it's honestly surprising, since Adam is absolutely enamored by ALL of the deadly things. I mean, he tried to capture a clicker once to keep around (tied to a tree outside the headquarters). that was a really fucked up birthday present to wake up to for Jonah, but in the end Sarah just shot it (which Adam was really annoyed by obviously. she told him to never, ever do something stupid like that ever again. and he didn't)

Adam, Jonah and Evelin met back when the outbreak was like... still not too serious (Mandela County mainly gets their bread from somewhere other than texas or jamaica and the wheat wasn't infected until later on, idk), and pretty much ended up sticking together throughout their childhood since there wasn't a lot else going for them- Adam ran away from the orphanage he grew up in when he was around 11 maybe? and Jonah's parents were still alive for a while, but his mom disappeared and his dad became zombie chow by the time he was 15, which is nice(/s). I'm not 100% sure what the deal is with Evelin's parents. they stuck together and avoided the zombies to the best of their ability, but Evelin got separated from the other two and after not being able to find each other again, assumed the other died. I'd say Adam and Jonah met Sarah only a little while after that and have been sticking together ever since, up until about 2007

Thatcher comes in almost directly after Jonah gets his leg chomped by a zombie- he was going to hide it, but it was really hard to cover up the limp and- oh, wow, that is a really big chunk of leg you got missing there, buddy. Thatcher was the one to point out his limp directly after rescuing the trio from some zombies because Jonah accidentally let some inside when he forgot to lock up the entrance on his way in (too busy panicking to double-check the lock), and that was that.

but! between Jonah and Adam they convinced Sarah not to shoot him, at least not immediately, and so they all kind of just. sat around for about a week. until absolutely nothing happened. and then Thatcher took them all to MandelaTECH like

Thatcher, kicking down door: hey dave I adopted some new children

Evelin: ADAM?

and that's... about where things are currently! the Department of Temporal Phenomena might be here in the place of the Fireflies. it kinda fits. especially since the DTP are kind of mentioned twice and then never alluded to again in canon and they're very much not the focus of this au either
